Off The Beaten Path

Some people come into our lives and quickly go. Some people move our souls to dance. They awaken us to new understanding with the passing whisper of their wisdom. Some people make the sky more beautiful to gaze upon. They stay in our lives for awhile, leave footprints on our hearts, and we are never ever the same.

Grandkids

Mike asked me how many Grandchildren I have, and I got to thinking about it, and I have five. All boys. Darrin has two boys, Scott now has two boys, and Trevor and Jennie have one. Ana and Nick haven't begun families yet because they are still in school. So there is potential for many more. I know that Scott plans to have a few more, and I am pretty sure that Trevor and Jennie will also. Ana has always said that she doesn't want any kids. But I feel that is just the young selfish girl in her talking.....she could change her mind. But I firmly believe that if a person feels they should not have kids, they are doing those kids a favor by NOT having them. So I won't argue with her if she doesn't change her mind. And Nick, well Nick doesn't even really like girls all that much yet, he is only 12. You see, my kids are spaced out over quite a few years, Darrin is close to 40, and Nick is 12. I would love to post a picture of all five kids together, but I don't think I have one. Whenever I am taking pictures there is always someone missing. The last time we were all together was Trevor's Graduation. This year, for Ana's Graduation they all plan to visit, so I will try and set up a family portrait.

I'm so happy to have found you again Nea - I was wondering what had happened to you.

Aren't grandchildren just the best!

They are, I love them all so much, but it makes me so sad to see how fast they grow, and I share so little of their life. It would be so ideal if I got to seeing them a bit more often. They are spread out around the State it would be hard though......and now Scott is in Texas so when I go to California I still don't see them all.

Oh I feel for you Nea. I'm so lucky that all mine live close by and I can see them whenever I want.

California is such a huge state, when I go to visit, I travel several thousand miles to see everyone.

I think it is ideal to have everyone live close by.....but it can't be helped sometimes. So I guess you are a bit lucky, because kids often move away for work. Scott couldn't help but take the job he did in Texas, it was too good to pass up.

MWM and I talk about going to live by the sea when I retire but it would mean moving away from the boys and the grandchildren and I just can't do it, even though we can reach the sea in an hour, silly isn't it? :(

You need one more to catch up with me, Nea - I am on 6 (but I guess you will pass me eventually)
