Off The Beaten Path

Some people come into our lives and quickly go. Some people move our souls to dance. They awaken us to new understanding with the passing whisper of their wisdom. Some people make the sky more beautiful to gaze upon. They stay in our lives for awhile, leave footprints on our hearts, and we are never ever the same.

Elijay, GA

North of us is apple country. The town of Elijay is where we usually go to buy fried pies, and pick up apples to bake more. My neighbor doesn't drive, but she is a driving force in my life because she has the ability to get me out of the house and up the road to just about anywhere she wants to go, today she wanted to go to Elijay. I woke up with a headache and didn't feel much like driving that far, so early in the morning, so I put her off until about 11:00 and then we headed out. Just she and I. We stopped for food at a little restaurant called the "Roadkill Cafe" (no kidding). I thought it would be safe to eat a hamburger, and it was okay. Then we drove on up to the far north of Georgia. It is gorgeous and as we drove I realized that the trees are beginning their fall "change of color." Soon the woods will be a patchwork of reds, golds, oranges and yellow in every shade and hue. And yes I did take my camera, however, I completely forgot about it, until I was back home and unpacking the car. Oh well, there will be a next time, we plan to go again to check out the town of Blue Ridge. It has a collection of Antique shops beckoning to us. They are located in the old section of town along the railroad tracks. Quite beautiful and picturesque.

Sounds like you had a good time today, you'd enjoy a visit to St Jacobs which isn't that far from my Sister.

Have a wonderful weekend.

Hi Akela......i will be over to your place today.

Yeh, Roadkill Cafe, IS NOT my idea of a good name......it doesn't even sound like a place I would want to eat. I find it hard to believe that people think a name doesn't matter. It brings to mind a very foul smell, and unpleasant thought to me, and completely riuns my appetite. But they were so proud of themselves on their clever name, so I let it pass. Guess what the first thing on the menu was, The Big Nasty...... good grief.....

These must be people who can eat while cleaning out the septic tank......

Hi Cindy.....yeh, haha, something like that........bring your own. My neighbor wanted to try the place, but personally I would have preferred eating at the Applecreek Inn, or something like that......
