Off The Beaten Path

Some people come into our lives and quickly go. Some people move our souls to dance. They awaken us to new understanding with the passing whisper of their wisdom. Some people make the sky more beautiful to gaze upon. They stay in our lives for awhile, leave footprints on our hearts, and we are never ever the same.

One More Day

I have just one more day to finish cleaning this house. I have finished with Nick's room, that was quite a chore, but he helped me dust. He seemed to enjoy it since I let him use some of my cute little dusting mittens. Tomorrow the bathrooms. My house is never really dirty because I clean all the time. I am always wiping something down, or vacuuming or dusting something. I don't have a particular day in which to clean, and when I feel well I can't sit still so I use my energy to keep the house nice. This time of year when I don't work outside all that much, the house is a whole lot cleaner than in the summer when I neglect the house in favor of the yard.

I need a new keyboard, I wear them out and then the shift keys won't work, so i don't get capitals. The new keyboard is sitting here by the computer just waiting to be installed but I have to get off the computer long enough so that I can install it. I have to pull the computer out of the cupboard so that the keyboard can be connected in the back. Not a big job, but I have to do a bit of tugging and crawl back behind the desk to accomplish this. Just one of those jobs I put off for another time. I am going to have to do it soon, it is annoying going back to put capitals where they belong. I had to do this on almost everyone of the the I's.

Good Grief it is almost 6am and I haven't been to bed yet. I went down in the basement and worked for about 2 hours, but I didn't start until almost 2am. I am a night person, always have been and I suppose always will be. I have always gotten a lot more done late at night that I ever could early in the morning when my brain is nothing but fog. People tell me, if you would go to bed early it would be different. Well let me tell you, I had to get up at 6 and be to work at 8 for many, many years......and NEVER did my brain feel like it was clicking on all cylinders at 8am. About 11 I started to feel human and about the time I got off work I probably could have gotten a lot more done. I have always done the majority of my housework at midnight. And if i have something that requires accounting, math, careful instructions, I always leave it till late at night when I am fully awake and functioning. My Mother is like this also, as is four of my five children. I have one that falls asleep at 9 and is up by 7. And we say, Bully for him. !! Just let the rest of us sleep.....

I'm a night bird too but unfortunately I have to be up at 6 and at work for 8 so early nights are a must. When I'm on holiday though my pattern shifts.

You really are a "night owl" ain't you, Nea. Me - I feel dragged into the world if I have to rise before 6.00 am. And yet the dawn is the most perfect time, I know that.
As to house cleaning - I believe it was Quentin Crisp who said that if you don't dust at all, after 4 months it never seems to get worse!

Hi Akela, yeh, I understand, when I was working I had to get up about six also......but I can't say I enjoyed it. It was still hard for me to get to sleep, no matter how tired I was.

Hi Avus, morning is beautiful, I know. And I occasionally get up, have a cup of coffee, watch the sun come up and then go back to bed.....

About the dust, I have noticed that myself, after it gets about so deep, it really doesn't seem to get any deeper, haha. But why does someone always feel that they need to write their name in it? ;)

Hi LIbby, haha, yes....I will tell everyone this....first one up has to cook for all of the rest of us.....bet they won't get up very early...

Occasionally Ana would make me breakfast in bed.......try eating when you aren't awake....haha. My stomach isn't working yet before about 11.....

Toast and coffee....that is breakfast to me....

Some people like to clean and some people hate cleaning. Some people love to tinker with the computer and some will put it off as long as possible. We know where you fit.

I wish I had your energy Nea, I finally got most of the Christmas Shopping done, still have a bit to do but it is for folks in Calgary so I don't need to rush as the gifts don't need to be mailed off.

I used to be a night person, being a Cinema Projectionist does that to you. But the last few years I've become somebody who needs to be in bed by 1000 pm

HI LIbby, yeh, the ole stomach kind of rebels at the sight of greasy food before 11. haha

Hi Dr. John, that is the funny part, I actually hate housework, but I have nervous energy and there are times when I really can't sit still, so I clean. It is a mindless task, something I can do where I don't really have to think, that is why after dusting, later, I will sometimes find my dusting rag in the frig.......

Hi Bill, all my life I have been a really high energy person. My husband says that when I am old and totally decrepit I will probably get more work done than most people. haha.......

I have definitely slowed down, there was a time I could work hard labor for 12 hours at a stretch.
