Off The Beaten Path

Some people come into our lives and quickly go. Some people move our souls to dance. They awaken us to new understanding with the passing whisper of their wisdom. Some people make the sky more beautiful to gaze upon. They stay in our lives for awhile, leave footprints on our hearts, and we are never ever the same.

Evolution

Lately some of my friends have given up blogging. They haven't actually taken their blogs down, but they no longer post. I guess to take a blog down completely is a bit like moving away from home. It is often the only attachment we have to people we have met through the years. So to completely remove the blog breaks all connection to old friends, which for some is very hard to do. It is hard to lose friends, even ones who we don't ever really get to know well. When I first started blogging, some two years or so ago, I met a few people who I still communicate with today, others have gone by the wayside, for whatever reason.

I was sitting here tonight contemplating why people blog, and why they end blogging. I know there are many different reasons, but I think for most of us blogging fills a need for communication. Some people are very intimate, they tell very personal things about themselves, others stay strictly generic, others only like politics, some religion. I gravitate towards people who share a bit about themselves and their life. I guess it is like reading the tabloids, a bit of curiosity at first. Then as time goes by you begin to feel that you really know this person, and communicate on a friendship level, so when someone ends their blog it is much like losing an old friend. When herhimnbryn stopped blogging I sure hated to see her go......when billiebluebeanjeans stopped I missed her also. And there have been many others. But I suppose a person can't do this forever, or can they. I guess the trick is to not let it become an obligation. To blog when you feel like it, and rest assured that your friends will continue to be here during the breaks. I have taken many breaks, but I always return. Just like a bad penny. haha

I took a while to catch on to the blogging craze, but since then, I've met a lot of wonderful people and made a lot of great friends- one of them is you.

As a relative newcomer (almost 12 months) I'm still enjoying blogging. If there comes a time when I don't I will stop. I have met some lovely people since I started and I do think of them as friends. You are one of them. x

Hello Elween, yes, I think after time everyone needs a break, but for me, life is now a break....from what I used to do. So blogging is kind of my retreat. I doubt I will give it up anytime soon. :)

I haven't any plans to stop blogging I just wish I had more time! It was a lot easier when I was recovering from my knee op - I had nothing else to do! :)

Nea ~ I don't blog everyday as I am on a computer everyday at work and it really takes the fun out of being on a computer at home. You will notice I had a big run of posts during the time I was sick, and I was glad to get back on the blog.

If I get that job with Transit I wont' be on a computer for my job so will enjoy the computer at home more. Today I got to the Transit Offices in about 40 minutes and take some testing, if I pass it then I will be called back for an interview.

Keep your fingers crossed for me, if I get the job I know I will be posting more blogs.

Bill

PS, glad that you can leave comments on my blog again.
