Mardi Gras is just around the corner......and I plan to be home this year for Mardi Gras. When I say "home", I mean Louisiana. No, I wasn't born there, but maybe that really isn't important. There is a feeling that a person has for certain places, a peace and contentment and a feeling of, "this is where I belong." That is the feeling that I always have when I return to Louisiana. It is partly due to the fact that chose to live there. Partly because of Junior, partly because of Dirk, and mostly because of David. All friends, that each played a key role in my loving the State of Louisiana. People come and go in our life, some by chance, others by design, they each play a significant role and leave a lasting impression. I love all three, each for what they gave me and for how they changed my life.
Long after we are but ashes, Mardi Gras will still exist. I think I like the idea of something that will last forever. And I can't think of Mardi Gras without thinking of Mac, otherwise known as Dr. John. David was a musician and he introduced me to Dr. John and his music. I now have most of Mac's CD's. When I need a bit of a mood boost, all I have to do is play some music by Dr. John and I feel better. So here is a sample for your listening pleasure.....
Off The Beaten Path

- Some people come into our lives and quickly go. Some people move our souls to dance. They awaken us to new understanding with the passing whisper of their wisdom. Some people make the sky more beautiful to gaze upon. They stay in our lives for awhile, leave footprints on our hearts, and we are never ever the same.

Happy New Year, Nea!
oh Mardi Gras! i don't what are they celebrating but it looks fun. and i think Canadian enjoys Mardi Gras more and they celebrations are more grand right?
i am sorry becuase i am really busy with my kindergarten work. my principal is such a slave driver..:(
The video isn't showing for me it's saying it's no longer available :(
Anyway I hope you get back to Louisiana for Mardi Gras so you can tell us all about it when you get back. x
A Happy and Peaceful New Year N.
Hello Lee, and a Happy New Years to you and yours. It is starting off very cold here, down to 12 tonight.......that is pretty cold for us.....my bird bathes are all frozen.....
Hi elween, don't know about Canada celebrating Mardi Gras, but the south does it up big......especially in New Orleans. Every town has their own type of celebration. But you can't get away with the things that you do in small towns that they put up with in New Orleans.....
I know working for a slave driver can be hard, especially the first few months. Ana went to work last year for a slave driver and every night she came home in tears. But she stuck it out, and now the woman respects her. I am hoping the same for you. Hope they see all the work that you do and give you the recognition you deserve. And maybe also the money. yes?
HI Akela, I don'tknow why the video is acting up, maybe it was removed from the source. It isn't my own video, it came from YouTube. And if he removed it, well then itisn't going to show.
Happy New Years......:)
Hi Herhimnbryn, so good to see you, I still stop by occasionally to see if you have changed your mind and are posting again. But I know that it is very possible to have a good life without blogging, haha.......
I have often thought of stopping myself, and have on occasion, but I always return because my life is mostly in doors now. And I get bored and lonesome.......and miss the friends that I have made here in blog world. It is funny isn't it to feel so close to people you have never met. But you do after a few years of blogging......
Nea -- I enjoyed the video. That is one flashy suit! I hope you plan to blog about your Louisiana adventure and share photos!
Hi quilly, how is the New Year treating you?
I always mean to..take pictures...but often get so involved, I forget to take photos. haha I used to really enjoy it when the kids were with me, but not sure that they will go, it might just be me. And if so, I will go to New Orleans and really enjoy the festival. It is much more madcap in NOLA.
You tease, Nea! Lauding Dr John, giving us the opportunity to hear him, then the link comes up as not available.
Ah well. A very happy and healthy 2008 is wished you from me.
Happy New year nea.
Hi Avus, you are the second person that said that the link is broken. But it works for some, I wonder about what goes wrong with these things. I could try and download it again. It did seem to load funny for me....It actually loaded THREE times, so I had to go in and erase two of them. Maybe I did something wrong. Yet some people have seen it. Always a puzzle for me, these computer things when they don't work. I was told by one friend who uses Firefox, that my blog is all messed up when he tries to view it since my last post. So there is something definintely wrong there, I guess. I will try and load it again. I might have just done it wrong.
Have a very Happy New Year Avus.....:):)
Hi Queeine, a very Happy New Year's to you also. Hope everything is going okay. I haven't been over as often of late, but I will get back into the groove now that the Holidays are behind me. It was a very busy time.....
ah, unfortunately i let you down. i actually switch to another more systematic kindergarten. start working on Monday...well, i put myself to shame compared to Ana.
Hi Elween,ah, only you know what is best with your job. And I am sure you made the right choice. Jobs can be so different, and if it isn't working then it is best to get out while you still have your self esteem and wits. Ana stuck it out because she was only 16 and I knew that she would have a hard time finding another job. But it was rough. Now things are better, but her boss wasn't to bad, it was just ana's first job and she thought it was awful. I knew deep down it could be SO much worse. Often you just exchange one set of problems for another. In Ana's case she had the worst behind her....so I am glad she stayed. Since you had just started that job, I think you probably did the right thing.....I think you could see "the writing on the wall," so to speak. You are older and wiser..... :)
