The sun is shining, the birds are chirping and it is 61 degrees outside. I have daffodils in bloom already, and I took a walk through the garden this morning with my cup of coffee and there are also crocus. Many of my spring bulbs are starting to put up little green shoots, even the lilies. And I personally think they will get frosted. They are tender bulbs, and if I don't put leaves over them, they are going to not bloom this year. They send up just a few shoots, and if they get froze that will be all "she wrote" for them this year.
I walked out to Lou's grave, looks so much better in the sunshine, serene and peaceful. Dwelling on the death of anything is not good, if it lasts for too long. Stress is a killer for me. It lays me up in bed for days. Well enough of that.
I went outside, took my shears and decided to prune until I was tired. It lasted almost an hour. (I sigh a big sigh as I remember the days when I could work hard labor for 16 hours.) Those days are definitely behind me. My job wouldn't be so hard if I had anyone to help with anything. But all the work seems to be mine.
So I just go about my business, I do what I can, and when I get tired I stop. There is no one that pushes me, except my own personal need to be doing something. I feel as if my day is wasted if I don't accomplish something. I have my own goals for each day, and although those goals have certainly decreased over the years, I still have them. I cleaned out around the Daffodils so that they can be seen, and I trimmed some of the Crepe Myrtles, pulled off the tops of the Gladiolas and Lilies that were dead from last year and pulled some weeds out of the path. Then I was done. This first picture is of a clump of daffodils by the path leading to the back porch and the second picture is of Daphne bushes. If you have never smelled Daphne you are really missing something, they have a wonderful sweet lemony fragrance, pure heaven.

nea-you have NO idea how jealous i am of your weather today!! ...here, it's windier than hell, and 5 degrees!! i love your flower pictures!
Hello LIbby. Wish I could send you a capsule of this beautiful day. It is dark outside now, but what a stunning glimpse of what is to come. that is what I love about the change of seasons, by the time the winter is over I am ready for spring, by the time summer is over I am ready for some cold. When I lived in Garden Grove, there was no real difference, it never froze, it never got to hot. People love it, but it is a bit boring I think.
I am so glad you are having a beautiful day and were able to get outside in it.
sorry about the death...but only death will bring new lives isn't it? that makes life more colorful. otherwise, we will only see the same color of leaves and flowers that never wither. :)
It is very cold in Neenah -9 and we have snow cover. Coming is warm weather and I too can go into my garden.
Always have goals, Nea, they are what make life worth living.
We are having great weather here to in England - the weather chart shows large, blazing suns all over for the next week - what a lift to the spirits!
You are so fortunate. It is -9 here and when we look out all we see is snow. Yesterday the drifting was so bad we almost didn't make it to church.
The weather here in England has been fabulous this weekend - really springlike. Doesn't it make you feel good? :)
Oh! I'm so ready to see mine! I can smell them! Thank you for showing them to us.
Come on spring!!!!
Just popped by to see if you'd posted and noticed you have music now - I love your selection. x
Sunshine is such a good healer and makes things look brighter. we are having sunny days at the moment lets hope it lasts.
Oh! You have blossoming things! The only thing blossoming around here are the snow drifts. 12 below a couple of mornings ago. No blossoms for us for a while yet.
how nice that you had a nice enough day to get outside and do something. I only wish I knew half as much about plants as you do!
