I planted a tree today, and tomorrow I am going to plant another one. Today a Silver Maple, tomorrow a flowering Cherry. I am running out of room for trees, so I guess I will have to plant some out in the forest. Silly, huh, planting trees in a forest of trees. But these trees are for spring and fall color.
I have had a rough day so this will be a short post. I will have to get to bed a bit early tonight after taking a pain pill, which will knock me out completely. But that is a good thing.
Oh, we went to the Etowah Foundation Star Awards Ceremony last night. There were six or seven seniors from Ana's school who were being given special awards of merit for Excellence for grades and achieving High SAT scores. Ana was the recipient of one such award. It is funny, she has been getting awards since kindergarten, so she is rather "ho hum" about receiving awards. Her brother would dearly love to get awards. The only year that he got several was fourth grade. Come to find out they had placed him in a class of children that were academically challenged, just because he moved to a new school and they hadn't decided where to place him. Well come to find out at the end of that year, he was the top of the class in every subject. So at the end of year ceremony he walked away with the highest grade in every subject. It was almost embarrassing. Although it was good for his ego, and I never did tell him what the deal was in that class.
I didn't take a camera last night, Ana isn't the kind who likes me to make a big display of getting up and snapping pictures, so I didn't bother. Her award was a plaque and also a multi-colored cord that she is to wear at graduation. I asked her if she would wear it, and she said that she would. I was surprised, because she rarely will conform. The night included a banquet and the food was good so I enjoyed myself. Although the speeches were long and not relevant. I could have written better speech, Ana could have written better speeches. Why must public speakers think that quantity is better than quality?

Planting trees in the forest makes perfect sense to me. But what I want to know is, how are you going to water those puppies?

I love flowering cherry trees- there are several in downtown Warsaw and they are just so beautiful when they blossom. And then one day, you drive through and the ground is just pink and white with all the fallen blossoms, beautiful too, in its' way.
One of these years I am going to plant a couple of them around in our yard. But, one project at a time and this year's will be my boat out by the pond. Some guy on the bus gave me a row boat yesterday- now all I have to do is get it home. I want to put it out on the edge of the pond so that it looks like a shipwreck and fill it full of flowers.
