Off The Beaten Path

Some people come into our lives and quickly go. Some people move our souls to dance. They awaken us to new understanding with the passing whisper of their wisdom. Some people make the sky more beautiful to gaze upon. They stay in our lives for awhile, leave footprints on our hearts, and we are never ever the same.

Texas

I am here in Texas at my son's house. We had a wonderful 4th of July. They did a barbecue, Texas style, the barbecue pit was the kind that you pull behind a truck. It was so heavy that is the only way you can move it. It was made of barrels, don't know who made it but the thing was big enough to cook a cow and a pig at the same time......the whole animal. We had a variety, pig, steak, chicken and ribs. I really didn't do the food justice, and as it was I had a rough day the next day because one of the salads that I ate no doubt had some wheat in it somewhere. I am feeling a bit better tonight. Yesterday we ate shrimp, and tonight they cooked salmon. Both seem to be sitting pretty well on my stomach. I haven't taken even one picture yet. I hate sitting around with a camera snapping pictures in everyone's face while they are trying to kick back and have a good time. Besides my camera was upstairs and I was downstairs, and outside. I had a nice evening talking to one of the neighbors from across the street. This party was a family as well as a block party. Everyone was invited, and there was a huge crowd. I guess when you say free food and beer it isn't hard to get people to show up. haha We bought several hundred dollars worth of fireworks, and we shot off fireworks for about two hours. I just sat an watched, there were plenty of people ready to light the matches. And there were plenty of kids to do the running and screaming as the bangs and booms were going off.

We are next going to Louisiana and spend sometime at our home there. I will have work to do in the yard. It will be nice to go back to MY home. It is where I feel the most relaxed and will get my best nights sleep. Although not sure if I will be doing any blogging once I get there.

Glad you are enjoying your stay in Texas. The food sounded delicious, though if I was there I think I'd see my cholesterol go through the roof.

Keeping you in Prayer Nea

Hi Quilly.....they are back at work today, so we have the house to ourselves. So I am going to get more computer time, haha. We have had a nice visit, but visiting is like storing fish.......three days and then it is time toss them out. haha

Hi Bill, I did more smelling of food, than eating of food. What I did eat was yummy, but I paid big time for my lack of resistance. I should have bypassed the things that I didn't know what was in them. I had a rough day afterwards.......I am being good now. but it is easier when there is nothing around to eat. hha

Hi Burfica, I found someone to talk to, and we talked all night. They have a great neighborhood, everyone gets along. I guess they do this almost every holiday.

Hi Libby, I did enjoy myself, it would have been better if I could have eaten the ribs though, haha. I had a bad two days, but today I ate gluten free and I am better tonight. I truly is trial and error, (lots of error.)

Hi Cindy, I go there with mixed emotions. It will be happy yet sad at the same time. It was my dream home and life, and it crumbed at my feet. Long story....
