Off The Beaten Path

Some people come into our lives and quickly go. Some people move our souls to dance. They awaken us to new understanding with the passing whisper of their wisdom. Some people make the sky more beautiful to gaze upon. They stay in our lives for awhile, leave footprints on our hearts, and we are never ever the same.

Along the Red River

Fall is in the air, the smell of woodsmoke drifts through my window and I love the feel of Autumn and the smell of cold weather approaching. I sleep better when there is a cool breeze blowing across my bed. I burrow down into my flannel sheets and comforter as a small rodent might do. If I had a tail I would wrap it around me like a squirrel. There is a rustling in the trees and the combination of smells and sounds take my mind on a expedition out under the pecan trees in my yard near the river. I often wish that I had a houseboat, and could just drift up and down the Red River not really going anywhere in particular, just floating along to the sounds of soft music and the smell of warm swamp water and steeping tea. Is that banjo music I hear?........

HI Akela, thank you, I love this time of year, when people start building fires and the air has that crisp feel to it......it is so welcome this year. i like cold better than heat. I can bundle up, but I can never get cool in summer it seems.

HI Cindy, the picture was taken in dead of winter,.....and the colors are untouched, that is just the way the sky actually looked. We are down to 42 degree nights, that is just 10 degrees above freezing.........my plants will soon go dormant and I won't have to water anymore, Yahoo......because as you know they won't let me water, with this water ban we have been having. Luckily we got some rain.
