Off The Beaten Path

Some people come into our lives and quickly go. Some people move our souls to dance. They awaken us to new understanding with the passing whisper of their wisdom. Some people make the sky more beautiful to gaze upon. They stay in our lives for awhile, leave footprints on our hearts, and we are never ever the same.

Then and Now

Two more evenings before I go to the airport and pick up the kids. I am so excited.

Well, I have dinner cooking, Nicki is making paper airplanes, and I have pumpkin candles burning so it smells like I am making pies. hah That is going to fool them......

We got some rain today, very much overdue, my flowers were begging for water, so I was really happy to see the clouds coming from Arkansas and heading our way. I filled all of the squirrel feeders, brought in everything that didn't need to get wet, like my shoes and tools. And then I went and made some coffee and sat on the back porch waiting for the smell and feel of rain. That is the highlight of my day......so for those of you who think I lead a very boring life, well yes I do. But remember, I have had a VERY full life. I have crammed more into my 50 years than some do in an entire lifetime, so I was ready for a bit of boredom. I no longer have any desire to be a "mover and a shaker." To look back on the person that I was when I lived in Los Angeles and worked in Beverly Hills seems like a whole different person. And in truth it really was a different person. The people that I used to "hob-nob" with, would not even recognize me now. Not sure if that is a good thing or a bad thing, but it is the truth. Although I have to admit, I lived on the "outside," looking in. I WAS NEVER the same kind of person that I associated with back then. I found that life to be shallow, unfullfilled and totally superfluous.

Imagine a person who thinks that hair and nails and how much they spend on your clothes to be really IMPORTANT. Like I said, I never REALLY fit that mold, I was just biding my time until I could get away. I would NEVER go back.

You drive from Los Angeles into Beverly Hills and don't even know when you crossed into Beverly Hills except things LOOK more expensive, and they are. The shops there are outrageous. I worked in the training department of a bank. city National, it was origianlly called, Jewish Bank of Beverly Hills. Many of the movie stars had their accounts with us.

I made really good money there......but still I am glad to be away from it all.

I will try and get lots of pictures of the kids. I get busy and forget to take pictures....and then i am sorry.

Hope you have a great time with your kids being home!
I never understood all that "glamour" junk either. Never interested me to have my clothes "fashionable", my nails done, my hair "styled"...never wore makeup, I even hate shopping.
