I once asked a friend, just what is Mardi Gras and I discovered that people who have lived around and near Mardi Gras all their life, never really stop and ask themselves that question. So when it is put to them, they all have about the same response, hmmmmmmmmmmmm.
In the first place Mardi Gras, IS NOT JUST ONE DAY, it is a season, a celebration and different towns celebrate on different days with parades and parties. The Last day of Mardi Gras is called Mardi Gras DAY and this year it falls on February 5th. It is commonly called Fat Tuesday or Shrove Tuesday - the day before Ash Wednesday and the first day of the Roman Catholic season of Lent. It is a religious day. But the celebration of Mardi Gras lasts many months, and seldom resembles anything religious, in the traditional sense of the word.
It has been said, "there are only two seasons, before Mardi Gras, and after. Which means, as soon as Mardi Gras is over, preparations begin for next years Mardi Gras. For some cities the festivities are elaborate and take most of the year to organize. If you would like a little history regarding the origin of Mardi Gras, this man has told it better than I could. "The History of Mardi Gras."
When your first priority for buying a house is if it's located along the Mardi Gras parade route!!

I've always heard about Mardi Gras, but have never really known anything about it. Guess I'm not an addict, since I wouldn't buy a house located along any parade route...

Hi cindy, I am not an addict either. But it is kind of fun with a few friends. The kids enjoyed it, we love to eat the king cake, and jump and yell for beads. But aside from that we don't do any of the wild parties.
Hi chana, I wondered where you have been, I have come by a few times, but nothing up since christmas, so I knew you must be off some where.
We are getting some snow tonight, imagine...in Georgia. haha
I am glad you are well, sorry to hear about the kids, with kids it is always something isn't it. She is so young to have problems with her ovaries. Hope they can get it worked out for her, maybe hormones can help. You know birth control pills. They help some girls.
I miss you too, I am here, most days. When you want to come in for a chat. I have a chat box up on the site now.
love and hugs.
