It is amazing the power of words........as is the same, the power of a deep blue sky. If it had been only gray blue, I think it would have been a somber day, but since it was a shade of delphinium blue a cheery mood prevailed.
The yard is green, not one shade of green, but layers upon layers of every color of green that you have ever laid eyes on. The reddish green on the leaves of the Japanese maple, hunters green of the hydrangea. soft pea green along the bank of the creek where the violets have escaped their pots to spread a confusion of many tiny green freckles among the crepe myrtles. Included in this paisley fabric, a splash of color, blue, red, pink, yellow blend in spotty profusion giving a hint that Monet might have used this landscape for one of his paintings.
A chipmunk takes a breather under the bird bathe as a blue jay swoops down to have a drink and let everyone know he owns the yard. Cardinals add their voice to the afternoon dichotomy as I take my break enjoying what Mother Nature has provided for my entertainment. As I sip my cup of coffee I think to myself, it is hard to believe there are so many shades of green.
