Off The Beaten Path

Some people come into our lives and quickly go. Some people move our souls to dance. They awaken us to new understanding with the passing whisper of their wisdom. Some people make the sky more beautiful to gaze upon. They stay in our lives for awhile, leave footprints on our hearts, and we are never ever the same.

Humid

One the the reasons that it is so green here, is the rain.....one of the reasons the humidity is close to 99 is the rain. You can't have everything, if you want the green, you gotta enjoy humidity. Actually I don't mind it. I remember when I first moved to Louisiana, the man who drove my furniture out from California said to me, "I give you a year", "this humidty will drive you back home." Well he was WRONG. In fact, I loved the humidity. Humidity is a woman's best friend. It smoothes out the skin and make it feel soft. There is nothing I like better than what humidity does for my skin. When I work in the yard, I keep the hose handy and every so often I give myself a good soaking head to toe. If there is a breeze, which usually there is, it keeps me cool. I am a coffee drinker, and a cup of coffee makes me sweat, when added with the breeze, also helps cool me down. I always wear a hat, something to keep the sun from my eyes. The Dr. told me that it was important to keep your eyes out of direct sunlight. It causes cataracs. And since we have a history of cataracs in my family,(probably since we are all outdoors people who love working in the garden) I wear sunglasses AND A HAT.

I worked for about an hour outside this morning, pulling weeds, moving flowers around who had escaped their beds. I have baby plant coming up all over the place. I have found that baby plants love to sink their roots into pea gravel. I lined my paths with pea gravel, and that is where the seeds seem to end up, and little plants begin to grow. They are easy to pull up out of pea gravel, so I move them all over the yard. Pinks and columbines are especially easy to relocate, and I find lots of impatients also near the porch. Since they are growing RIGHT in the path, they really need to be moved or they get trampled on. I could sell plants I have so many coming up.

Well I am taking a break, but I guess it is time to go and do something, even if it is wrong.

I got the packages in the mail today. A couple birthday presents, and one package of items that were left here when the kids visited.

Humidity! I moved from the desert to a tropical island! In the desert my asthma bothered me because of all the sand and dirt in the air. Here it is the humidity. I wheeze constantly!
