Off The Beaten Path

Some people come into our lives and quickly go. Some people move our souls to dance. They awaken us to new understanding with the passing whisper of their wisdom. Some people make the sky more beautiful to gaze upon. They stay in our lives for awhile, leave footprints on our hearts, and we are never ever the same.

Home Sweet Home

Well I am home, at my little place on the Bayou. Well not exactly on the Bayou, haha, but close......there is water never very far away when you are in Louisiana.

I love it here, there is no way to describe the feeling that I have when I am here. When the car was driving up the driveway I did get a bit sad, remembering a once lit up house, every light on, waiting for me. But truthfully what is a person to do. You can't go back, you can't make people love you, you can't change things the way that they are, or the way they are going to be. Each of us has to do what we have to do and then we must live with the consequences. I gave love a chance, but it takes more for me I guess that just words, it takes actions. Some were good yes, some not so good, yet, I remember the good and choose to forget the bad. It is done.

I went outside and started clipping and pruning, and shaping the yard the way that I like it. Just to please me, I think, because I was told it hasn't rained in six week, big old rain clouds came overhead and gave me a break from the heat. I sweat, Oh lordy do I sweat. And then I come inside and sit in front of a big old fan and rest. Tomorrow will be more of the same.....I love working in this yard, I love the red birds, I love the Cicada's, and I love the smell of a 100 year old house.

Love and peace to all of you.

Hi Burfica, mostly because of my kids. I moved them there from California, at the same time I was separating from their Dad. Well....they hated the schools, they hated the house, they hated the bugs, the didn't like my life choices very much, and they missed their Dad. I went back for several reasons, One was all of the above, and the other was, we didn't have medical insurance here in Louisiana, Kaiser doesn't have an office here, and we had Kaiser under their father. I worried myself sick about it, finally I just gave in to the stress and the pressure. Things have changed drastically since I made that decision, but I still can't live here full time easily. But the kids are older and I can come more often if my health would let me. I had a great day today, no pain, no running to the bathroom. This place agrees with me health wise also.

Oh by the way, in one respect my decision was a good one, because not long after we moved to Georgia, Nick had a total stomach blockage and had to have six inches of his intestines removed. If I hadn't had Children's Hospital of Atlanta I don't like to think what might have happened.......

Hi LIbby, boy this old house is sure in need of some repairs, big time.......and all I give it is a lick and a promise.......you can imagine what needs to be done to a 100 year old house. The window sills are literally rotting away......I don't think I can fix that. Needs a new roof, need leveling, and need new paint. Not to mention a few other big things. However, it can be lived in the way it is also. haha The roof isn't leaking, but it will pretty soon I don't doubt.

My rocking chairs were stolen......no more rocking chairs on the front porch.

Nea ~ I am glad you got home to a place you love. It is nice being able to get back and have a place of Sanctuary and a place to feel safe.

Take it easy fixing the place up in the heat, rest often and watch out for yourself.

What a shame about the rocking chairs in the porch - I was just fantasising about sitting there in the cool of the evening with a glass of something and watching the world go by.
