Off The Beaten Path

Some people come into our lives and quickly go. Some people move our souls to dance. They awaken us to new understanding with the passing whisper of their wisdom. Some people make the sky more beautiful to gaze upon. They stay in our lives for awhile, leave footprints on our hearts, and we are never ever the same.

Work For the Love of It

I woke up with a back ache. That seems to be common these days, and it takes awhile of moving around and getting my joints "oiled" to get it to stop. Today it never did stop hurting but I am mostly to blame for that. I got my coffee and then went out on the back porch. I kind of live on the back porch, me and the cat. I watched the sun come up and I watched the dew dry off my flowers as I sipped my coffee. Then I went out and filled the bird feeders and squirrel feeders and put fresh water in the bird bathes. (They appreciate it!) I decided that I was going to work in my flowers today, so many of them needed staking. The lilies have grown so tall they are beginning to bend over back towards the ground and the blossoms will be in the dirt if I don't stake them back up straight. The gladiolas also needed to be tied up, they grow close to five feet tall and we have had some high winds lately, they were all nodding towards the ground also. Then I got out the extended tree pruners and pruned a few of the lower limbs off the hickory that was crowding the dogwoods. I pruned and clipped and deadheaded many of my perennials and cut off the seed pods and scattered seeds. I didn't come inside until almost 8pm. That is a very long day of working in the yard. I felt good until I sat down for an hour and then tried to get up. haha

I am off to get a hot bath and then to bed. I think I will take a Tylenol if I plan to get any sleep.

The body loves hard work and exercise. It's the rest that's deadly!
