Off The Beaten Path

Some people come into our lives and quickly go. Some people move our souls to dance. They awaken us to new understanding with the passing whisper of their wisdom. Some people make the sky more beautiful to gaze upon. They stay in our lives for awhile, leave footprints on our hearts, and we are never ever the same.

New Computer

I got a new computer a few months back, and I have still been using the old one, for many reasons. Tonight I brought the new computer into my bedroom and am trying to get used to it. There are many things to adjust, and places I need to go and save links, so it will take me a few weeks to get everything back to where I had it. I always hate getting a new computer, but in this computer age, an older computer is a real handicap. There are so many new advancements that the older computer run so slow and don't work well with a lot of the new software. I run a lot of writing programs, money programs and finance programs. None of which work that well with old computers. So I was kind of forced into it. I will get used to it eventually but right now there is a lot I have to do to get to working efficiently for me.

you are right. I faced the same problem too. when a computer is too old, it is really....old. When I got myself a laptop, my pc is totally lying dead on the table.

I love my desktop though, just that I am tired of waiting more than ten minutes just for a pc start-up! :)

Have you noticed that as we age it gets harder to switch to new things? I'm ready for some kicked back comfort, not another learning curve!

HI Elween, the speed of this new one is so much better, and like you I just tired of waiting for the old one to start up. And then the programs half the time didn't work right. So I slowly made up my mind to get a new computer. And then I had to get used to the idea of actually using it. Finally I made that decision, now I wish I had done it a month ago, haha.

Hi quilly, so true, so true, I really do not relish learning new stuff anymore. I guess we reach a point we just rebel at having to always be learning new things. My mind just doesn't care if it ever learns anything new. haha As I told my husband, I have just about learned everything I care to know. He is constantly trying to teach me something about this new computer. I know it is all good knowledge, but with my power of retention, it is in one ear and out the other so fast, it is hardly worth his efforts.

well nea,
looks like you've already found your way round

Hi Queenie, the background is compliments of Final Sense blog themes. I don't make them myself. haha, I am not that good.

Hi Q, yes, I am finding my way around. There is much on a computer that I never use. Many programs that I never even open. But I always lose the old ones that I like most when I get a new computer. And often they won't work on the new operating system.

Hi Nea- Know what you mean about the new computer. While I don't have a new one (yet) I do have a new camera. Letting go of the old one was like losing a good friend.

Hi Cindy, Getting used to a new camera is another thing that throws me into a tailspin.....
I just get used to an old one and then my husband will get me a new one for Christmas.......and it is always so much nicer I just have to use it, but I never get to where I know how to use them that well......I am going to stick with the one I have now, I think....for awhile. both camera and comptuer.....

I know the feeling, Nea, having had my old one crash spectacularly. One gets used to an old friend and increasing age can make one reluctant to learn new stuff (which is why I go out of my way to do just that! "Rage against the dying of the light" as Dylan Thomas has it)

Thanks for that....

Hi Avus, yes, I guess one should make opportunities to learn new things. But I find lately I avoid them. I see a huge change in myself, I once relished an opportunity for a challenge, now, not so much. Just happy to sit back and let others learn the new things. The kids are quick to learn all this new computer stuff, me I have trouble even using the TV these days. The husband has it configured to where it is not a simple on and off.

Hi Queenie, you are welcome, I looked for a long time to find themes that I could use, not all are compatible with blogger, and some you have to buy. This one was free.
