Off The Beaten Path

Some people come into our lives and quickly go. Some people move our souls to dance. They awaken us to new understanding with the passing whisper of their wisdom. Some people make the sky more beautiful to gaze upon. They stay in our lives for awhile, leave footprints on our hearts, and we are never ever the same.

Physical Well Being

What makes a person happy? What is it that we need for physical well being? Can money buy happiness? Are some people just dull and depressed naturally, or can circumstances play a big part in who we are?

Lots of questions. I have always been the kind of person who analyzes a situation until I literally wear it out. Whether it be happiness, love, or what to fix for dinner, nothing about my life has been easily answered for me. I have always had far more questions than answers, and lately they seem to be closing in on me. I long for the peace and quiet that I used to find in solitude, but now my own thoughts invade my peace and give me no rest. Maybe that is what people talk about when they say they hear voices, it is just their own thoughs so loud they begin to drive them crazy. I long for quiet, for the sound of nothing but the wind in the trees and the chatter of an occasional squirrel or the flapping of birds wings overhead. I can so much easier tolerate quiet than I can noise. Even the sound of the television is to much for me right now.

I have been looking on the internet for a "teardrop trailer." They are small, they only have room for a bed, and the backpart pops up and it is the kitchen. They weight about 900 pounds. But my van can easily tow one, and I could take it anywhere I want to go.

I am part Indian, Native American as "we" prefer to be called, and maybe since I take after my Dad so much, and he is the one who gave me my Native American heritage, maybe that is why I need nature, peace and quiet, and solitude. There are different kinds of people, ones who need crowds, who love cities, and then are people like me. Granted we are in the minority, "tree hugger" I have been called at times. Don't misunderstand, I love my family, I love my kids, but my needs go much deeper than human companionship. I NEED the smell of earth, trees, pinecones, moss, running water, snow, mushrooms, mud........in its natural setting.

Yes, I am going to get a little trailer, I already have my tent, sleeping bag, cook stove, coffe pot, etc.....I have my laptop if I feel a deep need for communication, but mostly I think I just need to look at the stars from under a big pine tree out in the middle of nowhere.

That is why we live in a small town and go to the mountain often. We would prefer to be in a much smaller town, but I guess this one isn't to bad.
