Off The Beaten Path

Some people come into our lives and quickly go. Some people move our souls to dance. They awaken us to new understanding with the passing whisper of their wisdom. Some people make the sky more beautiful to gaze upon. They stay in our lives for awhile, leave footprints on our hearts, and we are never ever the same.

Breaks the Camels Back

I am 57 and found out just recently that what I have been suffering with for the last three years and what was diagnosed as IBS, is actually Celiac Disease. For the last three years I have heard things like insulin dumping, Irritable bowel, just fatigue, depression, allergies. But nothing specific. After dozens of Dr.'s visits, two colonoscopies, and numerous miss-diagnosis, what I have is Celiac Disease. I am finding I don't know how to cope with this adequately. Gluten seems to be in everything.

I won't be blogging for awhile, I am totally overwhelmed....

It took three years and my almost dieing before they got the diagnosis right. But now they can help you live with it. That's the good news. Knowledge always beats ignorance.

Yes, now you can research the foods you can eat. I know quite a few people that have it, and they make all sorts of yummie dishes.

my prayers are out there for you.

Good luck!!

HI Dr. John, I have been suffering with this for three years also. They have been treating me for so many things, but not what I actually had. haha..... Can't fix this unless you know you have it, and stop eating glutens. It effects a lot more people that anyone realizes, I don't think our bodies were made to eat wheat.....and it is devastating what it can do to your intestines.

Hi Libby, only one Dr. in the past three years even remotely thought it could be Celiacs. they were treating me for Lupus. Well some of the symptoms are the same, they are both autoimune disease, but this one, you end up getting cancer if you don't get it under control.

Thank you Bill, I am doing research right now, and trying to make a diet that I can live with. I made my first loaf of gluten free bread today, it smells gross. haha

Hi Burfica, I am finding out there is much I can eat, I will just have to be very careful if I ever eat out in a restaurant again. And it will be rough at my Mom's who always feeds us bread when she runs out of other things. Toast and jam....toast and fruit, toast and butter. She bakes homemade bread, and I won't be able to eat it any more.
